Elegant Chardonnay with sea view

The grape material for the excellent Sea Chardonnay comes from the Te Awanga Estate vineyard. Here, just a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean, the fresh, mineral character of the wine is created. The vines stand on barren, water-permeable gravel soils. Cool sea breezes ensure the preservation of the natural acidity and a good aroma. The Sea Chardonnay matured for almost 12 months in French oak barrels (Tonneaux from Burgundy), 30 percent of which were new.

And this is how the Sea Chardonnay from Elephant Hill tastes

The Sea Chardonnay enchants with a delicate scent of white and yellow drupes, accompanied by animating citrus aromas and fine spice and roasted notes. On the palate there are nutty tones reminiscent of cashew, vanilla and a subtle, salty minerality. A characterful, captivating wine, full-bodied and elegant, with a long reverberation and good development potential.

2018 Elephant Hill Sea Chardonnay

And that goes well with Elephant Hill’s Sea Chardonnay

This white wine goes well with fish, crustaceans and seafood due to its minerality. But it also cuts a fine figure with mushroom dishes and poultry. We love it with spaghetti vongole or with sea bream from the foil with fennel and herb butter.
