The flagship of Mischa Estate from South Africa’s Costal region

Originally operating as a highly recognized nursery, the brothers Andrew and Gary Barns of Mischa Estate soon began to prepare wine in addition to the vine cultivation itself. Meanwhile, Mischa Estate is the third largest nursery in the southern hemisphere and one of South Africa’s most prestigious boutique wineries with numerous awards from leading wine critics.
The Reserve Cerno is the flagship wine of Mischa Estate from Wellington in South Africa’s Costal region from the Reserve series. It is an exceptionally powerful and concentrated Merlot-dominated Bordeaux blend. It was aged for 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. The wine is already well drinkable, but will also mature in the bottle for at least 10 to 15 years.

And this is how the Mischa Estate Reserve Cerno tastes

In the nose you can immediately perceive the perfect arrangement of mulberries, blackberries and strawberries. These primary fruity notes are finely accompanied by spicy oak notes and soft cedar wood. The final touch to this complex aroma is given by the pleasant scent of forest floor after a summer rain. Silky soft tannins round off the flavors of blackberry jam and dark plum. The wine is strong with a full body, but still elegant. The long finish carried by notes of dark berries and sweet spices immediately makes you want more of this wonderful wine.

2017 Mischa Reserve Cerno

And the Mischa Estate Reserve Cerno fits in with this

The Mischa Estate Reserve Cerno, the winery’s flagship wine, goes perfectly with juicy lamb with fruity sauce, such as a strawberry jus. The combination with dark chocolate and salty caramel also makes this extraordinary wine shine even more.
