A Syrah of young soil with an old soul

The grapes for the Stone Syrah come from the heart of the Gimblett Gravels wine region. After the manual harvest, the slow and gentle fermentation took place before the majority of the wine was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. A small remnant was aged in used barrels and for about 3 Monte in stainless steel tanks. The finished wine was only minimally filtered before bottling and not embellished.

And this is how the Stone Syrah from Elephant Hill tastes

The Stone Syrah exudes a delicate scent of blackberries, black cherries, dark chocolate and liquorice, accompanied by slightly peppery notes and mineral hints. On the palate it is rich and powerful, with fleshy berry fruit, delicate acidity and well-integrated tannin. An expressive red wine with good balance and a long finale with cedar notes in a flattering finish. He should drink well for another 10 years.

2017 Elephant Hill Stone Syrah

And the Stone Syrah by Elephant Hill goes with it

The Stone Syrah is an ideal accompaniment to fried or grilled meat thanks to its peppery spice and lush berry fruit. Our motto: No BBQ without Syrah. But this red wine also goes well with grilled sweets or ratatouille.
