The wine with Asian food

The grapes of the Gewürztraminer have almost purple berries when ripe, but the wine is almost always white. There is hardly a more aromatic variety than the Gewurztraminer, which comes up with strong aromas of rose petals, lychee, very ripe citrus fruits, raisins or sweet spice. The wine usually has a larger body, a higher alcohol content, a slightly oily texture, a lower acidity and is often made with a lot of residual sugar. Although the Barrel Fermented Gewürztraminer is deep and full-bodied, it is still fresh, thanks to the high vineyard location and cool climate that helps the grapes retain a remarkable acidity. A hedonistic wine matured for 5 months in new French barriques.

And this is how the Barrel Fermented Gewürztraminer from Topper’s Mountain Wines tastes

The third vintage of this exciting wine style, of which only around 1,300 bottles are produced. The Topper’s Mountain Barrel Fermented Gewürztraminer shows lush aromas of Turkish honey, musk and lychees with smoky vanilla and dried flowers – a winey potpourri. The rich, powerful palate has a lot of texture and structure with typical spice up to a long, seamless, crunchy finish.

2016 Topper’s Mountain Barrel Fermented Gewürztraminer

And that goes well with the Barrel Fermented Gewürztraminer from Topper’s Mountain Wines

The Topper’s Mountain Barrel Fermented Gewürztraminer goes well with all kinds of spicy Asian dishes, especially green curry.
