France? Uruguay? No, Australia!

Reminiscent of the classic tannats from Madiran in southwestern France and the strong reds from Uruguay. Black-red in the glass and densely packed with dark, black fruits, but with surprisingly soft tannins. This wine will continue to age magnificently, but it is ready to deliver now. Spontaneously fermented in old French barriques, followed by a 20-month maturation in oak barrels and an additional 24 months of maturation in the bottle before it was released for sale.

And this is how the Wild Fermented Tannat from Topper’s Mountain Wines tastes

The Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Tannat pays homage to its robust French predecessor. Almost exclusively fruity aromas of cherries, mulberries, black berries, red and black currants proclaim the freshness and liveliness of this wine. Exceptionally vivid acidity and lush tannins perfectly balance the richness and intense aromas of ripe red and black berries with hints of vanilla and smoke. This tannat could rather be abbreviated as TNT to capture its power and explosiveness.

2013 Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Tannat

And that goes well with the Wild Fermented Tannat from Topper’s Mountain Wines

The Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Tannat is the right partner for grilled steak or veal bries, as well as grilled sausages. However, we also have fond memories of it for the fried goose.
