Wild fermented and suitable for game

Nebbiolo is an aristocratic but very delicate grape from Piedmont in northeastern Italy, which finds its best expression in the wines of Barolo and Barbaresco. Medium or sometimes even pale granatrote paint usually hides its huge backbone, which consists of high acidity and high tannins. Here at Topper’s, Nebbiolo is considered the best red grape variety in the world. Definitely not the easiest, neither in cultivation nor in vinification, but all the more rewarding vintages are appreciated when they deliver structured, complex and yet very fresh wines, such as this 2013.

And this is how the Wild Fermented Nebbiolo from Topper’s Mountain Wines tastes

In the nose of Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Nebbiolo the typical aromas of tar, rose hips, sour cherries, dark cherries, liquorice and heaps of flint. Juicy on the palate, yet with a strong backbone, supported by high acidity and juicy-soft tannins. Cherries, currants and cranberries are accompanied by liquorice, black pepper and a hint of earthiness. Long and firm finish.

2013 Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Nebbiolo

And that goes well with Wild Fermented Nebbiolo from Topper’s Mountain Wines

The Topper’s Mountain Wild Fermented Nebbiolo is without a doubt a great wine with truffles, whether black or white. Lamb of any kind is the perfect choice, as is beef with mushroom sauce and not to mention hearty stews. We like to get this wine from the cellar when we prepare game. A poem about roast venison or venison.
