The 6 bottle BBQ wine package includes the following wines:
Creating the perfect wine to go with beef has always driven Australian Hamish MacGowan. After a career as a cattle farmer, he established his wine company in Central Victoria and produces this wine from selected, fully ripe Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. In the glass, the Angus the Bull Cabernet Sauvignon shows an intense garnet red with violet reflections. The nose is seduced with lots of ripe black fruit, cassis, blackberry and blueberry, accompanied by an intense scent of dark chocolate, smoky notes and vanilla.
The Hill&Dale winery is still young. It was founded in Stellenbosch in 2001. Winemaker Guy Webber produces great wines here with a very good price-pleasure ratio. Guy is a passionate admirer of Pinotage and is considered a master of this South African grape variety. This is proven by numerous awards. On the nose, the Hill&Dale Pinotage shows a complex interplay of dark, ripe cherries and plums, accompanied by warming spices such as cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, it is wonderfully balanced, with a nice sweetness-acidity play and soft tannins. This red wine is made for BBQ or a braai, as the South Africans call their version of grilling.
Originally operating as a very well-recognised grape nursery in Wellington, brothers Andrew and Gary Barns of Mischa Estate Wines soon moved into making wine alongside growing vines themselves. In the meantime, Mischa Estate is the third largest vine nursery in the southern hemisphere and one of South Africa’s most renowned boutique wineries with numerous awards from leading wine critics. On the nose of this wonderful Bordeaux blend, one is immediately struck by notes of ripe plums and mulberries paired with secondary aromas such as tobacco and dark chocolate. On the palate, the aromas are joined by fine berry fruits. The fruity tannins round off the beautiful body in a long finish.
The Donaldson Family, founders of Pegasus Bay, pioneered the Waipara Valley wine region in North Canterbury on New Zealand’s South Island 40 years ago. Today, the name Pegasus Bay stands for one of the most renowned New Zealand wineries and always convinces with outstanding wines. The Pegasus Bay Merlot Cabernet’s fruity-sweet aromas of black cherry, dark plum, and cassis immediately rise to the nose. This is underpinned by liquorice, chocolate, vanilla and spices.
Longview Vineyards is a family owned Australian winery located just outside the historic town of Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills. Here the Saturnos, whose roots lie in northern Italy, produce exceptional wines. The Longview LV Shiraz Cabernet exudes a vibrant blueberry fruit character with underlying spice and dark chocolate on the palate. Its medium-weight mouthfeel shows a nice balance of fruit and youthful acidity. It is flavourful and rich with integrated oak and a long structured finish.
The EastDell Black Cab shows fruity aromas of sweet cherry, cassis, tart fresh cranberry, underlined by a fine vanilla note. On the palate, you taste dark plum, blackberry, currant and a hint of chocolate. The wine is fresh and soft, with a medium body and fine tannins as well as a refreshing acidity and has a pleasant finish.
