Longview Vista Grigio Grüner – An Italian and an Austrian married in Australia

The Vista Grigio Grüner from Longview Vineyard combines the best of Italy and Austria and yet is unmistakably, unashamedly Australian. The Pinot Grigio grapes ripen early. The plot is relatively high and faces south. The gentle morning sun and cool afternoon breezes in the vineyard ensure that the natural acidity is preserved. The Grüner Veltliner, which stands on an even steeper slope, ripens around 10 days later. It develops the complex fruit and spice aromas. All grapes were harvested manually. Both grape varieties were pressed as whole bunches and fermented separately for 21 days. There was no further maturation and a quick racking from the lees to achieve a crisp, fresh consistency and a bright, clear color.
