Finest Riesling enjoyment for the discerning

The Amisfield winery is located in Central Otago on New Zealand’s South Island and is now one of the specialists in Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines. The grapes also for this semi-sweet Riesling all come from Amisfield’s own individual layers, which lie below the glacier-formed Pisa Mountain Range. The Riesling plantations are located on the so-called Lochar, a mixture of stony scree and sandy clay. The vineyards are all managed entirely organically, with special attention to maintaining the special soils, vineyards and habitats. This combined with the extreme semi-continental climate produces wines of remarkable clarity, intensity and liveliness. The Riesling grapes were carefully harvested by hand for this wine and pressed very carefully. For the special aroma and liveliness, only the preliminary must was used and fermented cool in stainless steel tanks. The fermentation was stopped when the perfect balance of residual sweetness and acidity for this style was achieved. After fermentation, the Riesling was allowed to lie on the fine yeast (sur lie) for 3 months, which gives it a finely creamy texture.

And this is how the Amisfield Lowburn Terrace Riesling tastes

The Lowburn Terrace Riesling ignites a firework of aromas. Lime, tangerine, jasmine blossom and lemon zest on the nose precede the taste of fresh exotic fruits and a hint of hedge cherry on the palate. The minerality and acidity in combination with the natural residual sugar give the wine an incredibly fresh and complex mouthfeel.

And the Amisfield Lowburn Terrace Riesling goes well with that.

In a classic way, the Amisfield Lowburn Terrace Riesling goes well with a selection of soft cheeses. It can also be highly recommended for a spicy curry. But it also makes itself very good into pies.
