The natural spectacle eiswein

Pillitteri Estates Winery prides itself on producing one of nature’s most exquisite gifts – ice wine. The harvest of the Icewine grapes takes place when the temperatures have reached -8 degrees Celsius or colder. The hand-picked, naturally frozen grapes produce a juice with an intense concentration of sugar, acids, flavors and aromas when pressed. However, the yield is much lower than most wines, ten times more grapes are needed per bottle. The resulting wine has a high natural sugar content, a low alcohol content, an amazing acidity and is intensely sweet and tasty. Pillitteri Icewine is a unique taste experience with aromas that can range from honey-sweet peach and apricot to tropical fruits such as mangoes.

And this is how the Cabernet Franc Icewine by Pillitteri tastes

Typical of the Pillitteri Carretto Cabernet Franc Icewine, distinctive aromas of raspberry jam, ripe strawberries and sweet cherries dominate the nose. Subtle undertones of figs, maple syrup and cranberries can also be found. On the palate it shows a lot of enamel and extract, strawberry compote, cherry juice and cranberries set in. The usual acidity for a red ice wine is well integrated and ensures a balance to the lush sweetness. Overall, a characterful ice wine with a velvety, long-lasting finish.

And the Cabernet Franc Icewine by Pillitteri goes well with this

The Pillitteri Carretto Cabernet Franc Icewine goes well with dark chocolate, strong cheese and fruity desserts, especially those with red berries.
