The wine from the place of stones

This wine comes from two Marlborough vineyards – The Spring in the Wairau Valley with 27-year-old Mendoza vines and extremely stony and barren soils, and our Brookby Hill Vineyard in the Southern Valleys. The grapes were harvested by hand, lightly pressed and spontaneously fermented in barrels with regular stirring of the yeast set. After a complete malolactic fermentation, the 11-month maturation follows in 25% new and used French barriques. The finished wine is bottled unfiltered.

And this is how the Clos of Pierres Chardonnay from Two Rivers tastes

This Chardonnay exudes beguiling aromas of lemon quark and orange blossom, mixed with hazelnut and smoky notes. On the palate, the wine is close-meshed and multifaceted, from white peach to lime to roasted cashews and flint, the associations range. The artisanal approach to winemaking has produced a racy and delicious wine that boasts great vibrancy, finesse and a long, mineral reverberation.
