Bordelais red wine cult revived on New Zealand’s South Island

Main Divide is the local name for the Southern New Zealand Alps, the backbone of New Zealand’s South Island. From there, from the Waipara Valley, the excellent grape material for this Bordeaux-style cuvée comes from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. The vineyards were chosen according to their special quality and the ability to show regional character in the wine. This wine was prepared according to the traditional methods of Bordeaux. The grapes were naturally fermented in stainless steel tanks and the must was regularly pumped over to keep the skins moist, resulting in optimal tannin extraction. After the careful pressing, it was filled into partly new, French barriques for maturation. There he underwent a second, malolactic fermentation the following summer. After 18 months of maturation in barrels, the individual grape varieties were carefully blended to obtain a perfectly balanced wine result.

And this is how the Main Divide Merlot Cabernet tastes

With the Main Divide Merlot Cabernet, the scent of sweet fruits such as dark plum, blackberry and cassis is immediately present. Behind it are nuances of mint, eucalyptus and herbs as well as tobacco, liquorice and cloves. On the palate it shows itself with a full body, soft and juicy structure and high drinking pleasure.

And the Main Divide Merlot Cabernet goes well with this

The Main Divide Merlot Cabernet goes classic with red meat, such as a juicy grilled roast beef with smoky barbecue sauce or a venison goulash. It can also be excellently combined with hard cheese.
